Lesson

Excellent movement.

Lighting did not provide enough internal contrast. And some of the shots had conflicting types of movement.

Seems often I try to include more than one type of movement - i.e. broad sweeping movement, and more abrupt jagged movement within the same image. Sometimes these may flow together. More often it dilutes the image.

Check camera setting more often. Seems I am fat fingering the aperture and shutter speed.

Working Complexity, Prominent or Curious Shapes and Movement, Completeness

I think in a lot of cases I tend to include all cases of prominent of curious shapes or movement. The problem is within complex elements, often these have an inconsistent energy. Likewise there is a tendency to favor completeness.

I think a more effective approach is to find the central element, and then pull in positive and negative space to the extent they support that central element. Otherwise the sum of elements becomes a somewhat dilute collage.

The last image is the full picture. There is a curios c-shape at the bottom, which I kept in a lot of edits and attracted my focus when shooting. It turns out that c-shape demands a lot of focus and does actually works against the turbulent energy. I.e. the shape itself is an arc, and its inclusion results in some broad, and relatively calm negative space.
