Beyond establishing some general rules, there are a whole bunch of patterns I keep encountering.
Foreground elements need enough to feel established, i.e. they feel like they are firmly coming from the scene.
Negative space anti-patterns. The angled flow or flow that terminated in force going to the corner and ending bluntly in a triangle.
The single large arc.
Duos abutting, without any meaningful interaction, cross-lighting, or juxtaposition.
